Education of children in time of crisis

Education is a basic human right, and every child deserves access to quality education regardless of their circumstances. Unfortunately, crises such as natural disasters, conflicts, and pandemics can disrupt education and leave children with disabilities particularly vulnerable. At NC for disables, we believe that education is crucial for the well-being and development of children with disabilities, and we are committed to ensuring that they receive access to education during times of crisis.

During times of crisis, children with disabilities may face additional barriers to education, including physical access, transportation, communication, and adequate learning materials. To address these challenges, we work with local partners and volunteers to provide education and support services to children with disabilities during and after crises. Our efforts focus on providing accessible and inclusive learning environments, as well as individualized support to help children overcome any barriers to learning.

Our initiatives include:

  1. Provision of mobile education kits – We provide mobile education kits to children with disabilities who are unable to attend schools due to conflict, disaster, or displacement. These kits contain learning materials such as books, Braille paper, writing utensils, and assistive technology devices. Our team of volunteers also provides remote educational support to help children use these materials effectively.
  2. Inclusive education programs – We work with schools and educational institutions to ensure that children with disabilities are included in mainstream educational programs. Our team provides training to teachers and school staff on inclusive education practices and the use of assistive technology devices. We also support schools in making their physical environments accessible for children with disabilities.
  3. Online learning resources – During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have developed online learning resources for children with disabilities who are unable to attend school. These resources include videos, educational games, and interactive activities that promote learning and engagement. We have also provided online training to parents and caregivers to help them support their children’s education at home.

Education is a powerful tool that can break the cycle of poverty and provide hope in times of crisis. By investing in the education of children, we can build a more resilient and prosperous future for all.”

At NC for disables, we believe that education is a fundamental right for every child, regardless of their circumstances. Our initiatives aim to provide children with disabilities with access to quality education during times of crisis, empowering them with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in their communities.
